WELCOME

Accrington Wildcats ARLFC was founded in August 2007 at the Great Eastern Public House by a group of Rugby League enthusiasts who wanted to see the sport grow and develop in the area. We started to recruit players in the autumn of 2007 and trained them through the winter. We were hoping to register one team with the North West Counties league in June 2008 but the sport turned out to be so popular we had to re think our initial plans as we had enough players to create three teams for the 2008-09 season. The success of the club has been amazing when compared to the fate of our original meeting place. With four age groups at under 12's, under 10's, under 9's & an under 7's development squad the Wildcats has outlasted the Great Eastern which is currently closed down.
With three teams playing against clubs from all over the North West, Accrington Wildcats is competing with teams from the rugby heartlands such as Wigan, St. Helen's, Warrington and Widnes.
The Wildcats had their first ever victory by our under 9's team on 22nd February 2009 at Woolston Rovers.
The members of the club believe that we offer the chance for children to take part in the best team sport in the world. All the parents of the club have seen an improvement in their children both on the pitch and (in many cases) off the pitch as well. The self discipline, respect, mental and physical toughness required to play the game transfers to all walks of life and helps the players develop the skills needed throughout their lives.
